| John Enck is a vice president and research director in Gartner's Research organization. Mr. Enck focuses on two key research agendas: The technology and market issues surrounding industry-standard servers running Microsoft operating systems and the technology and market issues surrounding enterprise directories. In this capacity, he tracks a variety of industry-leading vendors, including AMD, Dell, HP, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems and Novell. Mr. Enck has more than two decades of experience in the IT industry. Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Enck was the technology and research director for Duke Communications (now Penton Media), publisher of Windows IT Pro magazine and iSeries NEWS. He has extensive networking and systems experience with a variety of mainframe, midrange, and PC LAN systems. He is also the author of more than a dozen commercial computer books and hundreds of published articles |  | Darren Mar-Elia is a contributing editor for Windows IT Pro and is CTO and Founder of SDM Software. He maintains a Group Policy resource Web site (http://www.gpoguy.com) and is coauthor of Microsoft Windows Group Policy Guide (Microsoft Press). Prior to founding SDM Software, Darren was CTO of Quest Software’s Windows Management division, where he worked to develop products and strategies for heterogeneous systems management offerings. Prior to Quest, Darren was Director of Windows/Unix systems at Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. In that capacity, he helped design cross-platform IT systems and developed Schwab’s initial strategy for Linux adoption. |  | Brian Komar, president of IdentIT Inc., is a principal consultant specializing in network security and PKI.
